Harold Pinter won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2005.  This evening presents two of his one-act plays.

Pinter’s “The Dumb Waiter” was written in 1957, and is considered the best of his early plays.  It combines classic British music hall comedy and urban thriller characters.  The personalities of the two actors are presented slowly through working-class small-talk, with an oblique but palpable political edge.  It contains the germ of Pinter's drama.

Pinter’s “Landscape” was first broadcast on radio in 1968.  Set in the kitchen of their deceased owner’s English estate, Beth and Duff present us with the difficulties, frustrations, and suppressed emotions of a married couple attempting to communicate, or not, with each other.
